We met at the park, on a sunny Tuesday. I swung, we talked, you took pictures, we caught up on what was going on in each other’s lives. I got up and started to walk and you followed. We talked more. We looked out at the view on the deck looking pier. Watching the water from the fountain. I told you things about how my life was hectic. You listened like no one has before. You put your hand on my back and you started to walk leading me your way. We walked until you stopped. Sitting on the side near the water. We sat, talked some more. Played around, you pushed me so I leaned over. You were telling me that you hadn’t forgotten me. And how you thought of me from time to time. You pushed me again and out of your mouth were the words “I love you”. Spoken so innocently yet like you meant it. So straight forward. I kept watch of the time cause I knew I had to leave soon. So we kept talking and playing around. You started talking in this accent that I couldn’t help but laugh at. It felt like old times. When we used to chill and play around. I missed it. I looked at you and said “it’s time to walk back”. Step after step, we walked back to our cars. I looked at you and said “I don’t wanna go”, I gave you a hug and said “we will have to do this again”. We said our goodbyes, got in our cars & went our separate ways.
Those words, from your mouth still linger in my head.
